With a diameter of 109 km, and rims rising up to 2.1 km above its dark floor, Plato is one of the easiest of all lunar craters to recognise. One Plato mystery with a simple solution is it’s lack of a central peak. Compared to other impact craters of similar size, Plato should have a 2.2 km mountain rising from its floor.
