CG 4, commonly referred to as God's Hand, is a star-forming region located in the Puppis constellation, about 1,300 light-years from Earth. It is one of several objects referred to as "cometary globules", because its shape is similar to that of a comet.
This beautiful portrait of the nebula was captured by a Planewave CDK24 telescope at Heaven's El Sauce Observatory in Chile. It combines red, green, and blue channels with ha data to create a detailed and natural representation of the nebula.
The raw data was curated by a remote telescope service and then combined, calibrated, and processed by Richard Leighton to produce the final image.
