I made this for us. It’s my version of “wrapped” for SCENES – a year on from the first single release and the platform going live. And it’s not finished yet. This video shows the journey of SCENES, from the initial concept through all the journey that you were a part of.
What started as an idea about reminding people of the emotional value of music grew into an MVP that, with your support, guidance, and funding, made its way to a first version. We updated and developed it as we went along.
The content was created by you, and in the end, the real value was found by those who took part in the process. It was ahead of its time, evolving into a collaborative piece of performance art that captured our moods and emotions during a period when the internet was reshaping our personal spaces and our ability to connect with one another.
SCENES remains an ongoing experiment in co-creation – not for metrics, streams, or likes, but for us. It exists in our dark forest because we want it to, and because it brings us value.
It has taken music into your world and out into the wider world. I’ve spoken about the project at conferences in Hamburg, Leipzig, ADE, and London, as well as gigs in Paris and London. Next year, the book will serve as a prelude to an exhibition that will take your memories and inspire others to reflect.
What began with a simple prompt, drawn from the concept of the music, has grown into something more. Now, your memories will serve as prompts to encourage others to reflect on what matters most in their lives.
If you’ve made it this far then this album project clearly mattered to you. Thanks for taking part, thanks for helping me fund it. It means the world to me ❤️
We set out to build something that was an expermint:
Off platform Crowd funded Co-created
The success metric: EMOTIONAL CONNECTION
Over 350 memories were submitted and turned into Scenes, capturing a moment in time and asking us to take a step back and reflect.
People stopped, took time out of their lives and and engaged a process that connected music and emotions 🎶
We raised $5k to build the custom platform through the Sound of Fractures Token - I wanted to build a world and bring people to it, and to do that we could rely on normal funding models. They were broken.
This enable the project to travel beyond the niche that funded it, and out into the world.
Because it wasn’t about the blockchain, that was the tool that allowed us to own.. it was about connecting the audience + the artist ✍️
Each Scene's prompt invited us to reflect on a different part of our lives, people cried, laughed, sent them as gifts, said things they had never said before and looked inside themselves. 🫂
In a world dominated by numbers and short term metrics, we ended up feeling a part of something bigger than us and creating memories while revisiting memories.
We became part of a on going pice of performance art 🖼️
Woven into the collective experience were 6 songs:
I had sampled my life and put it in the music and I got to invite you to contribute your life too. 🔊
It was was an amazing moment to see the project win one of the second place prizes in the @Optimism We Love The Art Competition - It was really hard to take in and a special moment for everyone.
“Scenes” A truly unique project, the album exists as a collaborative process enabled by direct to fan connection, encouraging fans to share their cherished memories and photographs in response to each track, transforming them into a unique collection of "Scenes".
The music then, is just one element of the overall idea behind Sound of Fractures - Reddington aims to rethink the concept of what an album is, how the connection between fan and musician can evolve and how, fans can contribute to and build an idea around an album.
According to Reddington, "Music goes beyond sound; it taps into the memories and emotions it awakens. 'Scenes' gives a tangible shape to this connection and preserves it in a recognisable form for fans to own. Each song, along with its corresponding 'Scene,' will populate a digital gallery, serving as a record of how music intersects with life's moments in today's social media-driven world."
The concept of world-building is at the core of Jamie's vision. In an era where music has been commodified, and artist identities often diluted, Sound of Fractures provides an alternative approach. Jamie emphasises, "World Building involves creating connections that foster strong emotional bonds around an artist's music. In today's digital age, music is not just a product; it's an entire world that fans should aspire to engage with and feel a part of."
Having explored the fusion of web2 and web3, as previously demonstrated in his “IRL” EP, Jamie is no stranger to experimenting with new formats and ways to fund his music. His passion for innovation has not only established him as a trailblazer but has also showcased the potential of new models for building artist-audience relationships without relying on major tech gatekeepers. His new album will be launched alongside an interactive platform where users upload and create authentic, shareable visual content using memories set to the backdrop of his music.

Rising UK-based electronic artist and producer Jamie Reddington (aka Sound of Fractures) announces his groundbreaking project, "Scenes.” The interactive album invites fans to contribute their favourite memories and photographs in response to each of the record’s songs, encouraging a lean-in, emotional connection that’s been lost in our passive streaming environment. “Music isn't just about sound; it's about the memories and emotions they evoke. ‘Scenes’ is an effort to give a tangible form to this abstract connection and capture it in something we can recognise,” shares Reddington. “Each song and its accompanying ‘Scenes’ will populate a digital gallery – an archive that's a living testament to how music interacts with life moments in today's social media-dominated era."
