This collection is inspired by a series of mysterious facts occured since Middle Age. As these events did not have a scientific explanation, they were attributed to demonic possessions, witchcraft, abductions, and all kinds of paranormal occurrences. The progress in science has allowed us to explain much of these facts, in many cases, the answer lies in poisoning from the consumption of ergot, a fungus that grows from the fermentation of rye, a grain widely used for food production and the main component of LSD, a powerful hallucinogenic drug developed for mind control projects by the CIA and ended up being widely used as a recreational drug by the Hippie movement in the 1960s. In the Middle Ages, this poisoning was known as Sacred Fire, and its symptoms include a burning sensation under the skin, auditory and visual hallucinations, mental aberrations also could cause gangrene, leading to many people losing their limbs. The purpose of these paintings is to recreate through abstract, hallucinogenic landscapes what each individual might have experienced under the effects of ergot.
