The Kopassus (Indonesian: Komando Pasukan Khusus, Special Forces Command) is an Indonesian Army (TNI-AD) special forces group that conducts special operations missions for the Indonesian government, such as direct action, unconventional warfare, sabotage, counter-insurgency, counter-terrorism, intelligence gathering and special reconnaissance (SR). Kopassus was founded by Alexander Evert Kawilarang and Mochammad Idjon Djanbi on 16 April 1952. It gained worldwide attention after several operations such as the Indonesian invasion of East Timor and the release of hostages from Garuda Indonesia Flight 206.

ROK Special Forces brigades work in a close relationship with their United States Army Special Forces counterparts and other allies in international security and intervention missions. U.S. SOF in Korea are under the command and control of Special Operations Command Korea (SOCKOR) which is a sub-unified command assigned under the Korean Armed Forces Command.

The Army has Special Forces Corps unified command consisting of three Special Forces Brigades, a High Command GAFE (Grupo Aeromóvil de Fuerzas Especiales) group, a GAFE group assigned to the Airborne Brigade, 74 independent Special Forces Battalions, and 36 Amphibious Special Forces Groups.[1]

The Special Forces Brigades are formed by nine SF battalions. The First Brigade has the 1st, 2nd and 3rd SF Battalions. The Second Brigade has the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th Battalions, while the Third Brigade has the 4th Battalions, 9th Battalions and a Rapid Intervention Force group.

The Special Troops Command (Polish: Wojska Specjalne) is the special forces command of the Polish Armed Forces (SZ RP). The command was formed in 2007 and is the fourth military branch of the SZ RP.

Finland’s Special Operations Forces (FINSOFs) consist of two units, the Utti Jaeger Regiment (Finnish: Utin Jääkärirykmentti, (UTJR) or Special Jaegers) part of the Army, and the Special Operations Detachment (SOD) part of the Naval Reconnaissance Battalion of the Navy’s Coastal Brigade. The UTJR is responsible for Army Special Operations Forces (SOF) activities and Defence Forces’ rotary-wing operations. The SOD is responsible for naval special operations.

Originally these units were independent, with UTJR being Army and SOD being the Navy. However, in 2021, the Commander of the Finnish Defence Forces unified the activities of the SOFs under the command of the Army. Starting in 2022, the SOD is now placed under the Army and the Utti Jaeger Regiment
