I didn't read this, but I heard about an article where one of the creators of The Matrix was going through an awful time in her life. In her darkest moment, she realized she had the characters of Neo and Trinity to comfort her. My characters have similarly helped me. I know that no matter what happens I can always draw Julian, Isis, Greg, and Aaron to alchemize my pain—in turn, making it useful.
In all the places I’ve been i found people. And through these phases, I’ve shed them. In stages of life I’ve had people leave, only to find more fly in for the next part of my journey. Cheers to those I’ve met, cheers to those who’ve left, and cheers to those that have stuck around. All those in my life have affected me, and even without you here, i am shaped into who i am. May, 2022 This piece was one of the first pieces I created using AI, with outputs from Wombo AI, the first image generation tool I used, recursively collaged with Mario Kart iconography. This piece marked the beginning of a journey in a couple ways. This was the start of a new collaborative practice with AI that has evolved in the past 2 years since in exciting ways. This was also made right after I moved to NYC and was one of the first pieces I created after my move.
