In the lush heart of Yorubaland, where the Ogun River whispered secrets to ancient trees, there lived the daughters of water, descendants of the Orisha of the rivers and motherhood Yemoja. The women are the bridge between the celestial and the terrestrial, having the ability to speak to the sea and command the waters.

The legend says Yemoja came to earth some time back and took male lovers to give birth to the daughters.

Each woman bore a distinct gift, a reflection of Yemoja’s multifaceted nature. Some could sense the emotions of those around them as easily as sensing the flow of water, while others had the ability to heal with their touch, mending wounds and ailments as if coaxing the health to flow back into the body. Others were able to sing to the oceans and seas bringing calm or scream to erupt turbulent waves.

The legend of daughters of water spread across the country as they keep the people safe by warding off terrorists and pirates. They forever remind the people of the harmonious balance between humanity and the divine, between giving and receiving, between the waters and the land.
